Over 150 under CID radar
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers have so far identified a group of around 150 people involved in breaking into the President’s House, Temple Trees, the Presidential Secretariat and the Prime Minister’s Office and causing damage to these properties.
In the preliminary investigations done by the CID the number of suspects who have been identified for breaking into and damaging the Presidential Secretariat so far is 55. The number of suspects who have been identified so far in connection with the damage to the Prime Minister’s Office is 15.
A senior officer of the police Headquarters mentioned that the rest of the people were identified in connection with the damages caused to the President’s House and Temple Trees.
In addition to the damages a number of valuable items too have been stolen from those places.
The officer further mentioned that operations will begin to arrest those responsible persons in the near future.
He said legal action will be taken against them under the Public Property Act and the Archaeology Act after taking the advice of the Attorney General
